Census Metrics for local partners: shops and services that help people register
How shops, clinics and participating services take part in Census Metrics: a benefit for registered animals, posters with QR codes and registrations tracked by channel.
This page is for shops, clinics and other services in the municipality that deal every day with people who have a dog or a cat and want to help with the census.
What it solves
A census is only completed if families know about it and have a reason to do the paperwork. Local shops and services are places they already visit, and Census Metrics gives them a simple way to help and to see whether their help works.
What each partner brings
A benefit for registered animals. A discount or special condition that each business defines. One more reason for families to register.
An entry channel to the census. Posters and stickers with a QR code of their own. Whoever scans it starts the registration from their phone.
Visibility. The business appears linked to the municipality and can be highlighted in the app.
Tracking. Each registration is noted with its channel. You can see what each point brings.
How it works in practice
The local government adds the shop to its directory and gives it materials with its QR code. Whoever sees the poster starts the registration, and later shows their animal’s ID card to redeem the benefit. A clinic can also note clinical acts, as described on the veterinary clinics page.
Types of point
- Neighbourhood shops. A poster with a QR code and a benefit for registered animals.
- Veterinary clinics. Besides the QR code, they complete the animal's record.
- Dog parks. A poster brings the registration to where dog owners meet.
- Municipal services and organisations. Materials with their own code.
What is expected of a participating point
Very little: keep the materials visible, help whoever asks and honour the advertised benefit. The platform does the tracking.
What the municipality gains
A directory of participating points, materials generated from the platform and a summary of registrations by channel. It knows which points work and which to reinforce. More on the local governments page.
What families see
Pet owners see the benefits in the app, next to the ID card, as described on the pet owners page. No business gets access to an animal’s record by being a partner.
Census Metrics is part of the Zoometrics suite, with Meow Metrics, Ark Metrics, Wild Metrics and Silva Metrics (new tab). More on the Zoometrics suite page.
